Barbera d'Asti Superiore
Denominazione di Origine Controllata
This wine is the product of the vinification of the purely Barbera grapes from our vineyards in
The vineyard's magnificent southeastern exposure and the quality of the partly
sandy and clayey soil lend this particular type of Barbera an intense secondary bouquet as well
as an undeniably substantial body. The quality of this vineyard allow us to take very ripe grapes
into the wine-cellar which are generally vinified in the third ten days of October.
In order to better preserve the qualities of the grapes and soil, no selected yeasts are added,
using only those present in nature.
The temperature-controlled fermentation/maceration phase lasts
approximately 12 days. During this time, the grape skins are kept in constant contact with the
must through manual pumping and crushing occurring every 4/6 hours. When fermentation is completed,
the wine continues in the ancient tradition of aging in oakwood casks for approximately 18 months.
After being bottled, the wine is then matured in the bottle for a minimum of 6 months.
Filari Lunghi offers the aroma and flavour of days gone by, representing the epitome of the Asti
region and its traditions.
Its ruby-red colour is tinged with purple. Complex and gradual to the
sense of smell, traces of currant emerge initially, followed by tobacco, licorice and leather.
To the palate, its imposing body counterbalances the distinctive acidity, finishing warm and clean
with a ripe marasca aftertaste.
